Position Status: Permanent / Full Time


We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a 2 year full time cadetship.  As a cadet you will combine your professional training with practical work experience. Although no previous experience is required, we are on the hunt for passionate people who are able to demonstrate a commitment to continued learning.

We are looking for a self starter who is genuinely interested in working within our supportive team.  Above all we will choose a candidate with an open and honest persona and a great attitude.

Based in our Toowoomba office located in Withcott, this position will support our science and engineering teams. The position will require, at times, field work and data collection.   The Cadet position supports the project managers in multiple projects to meet commercial agreements with clients within budget and in a timely manner. 

As a Cadet you will work across many industries with soils and water related projects.   You will:

  • Learn and gain skills in relevant project deliverables and computer programs.
  • Work under the guidance of our Engineers and Scientists on really diverse projects; and
  • Provide accurate and efficient services to the business in accordance with project schedules and budgets, with detailed supervision.
  • Obtain existing site and infrastructure information using relevant software programs and tools.
  • Develop communication skills to liaise with local government authorities and sub-contractors
  • Deliver to relevant authority and local government standards
  • Report directly to the Operations Manager in regard to project and task delivery.

The key duties of the position will include:

  • Support of Project Managers and Client Managers, as delegated by the Operations Manager.
  • Assist with managing project administration and documentation
  • Assist with project scoping, building project budgets and winning proposals.
  • Assist to deliver quality project outcomes including, data analyses and create letters, maps, briefs, reports and other technical advices, under guidance.
  • Undertake occasional field investigations and data collection and assessments; including projects remote to the office, requiring travel and stays away from home.
  • Assist project managers with project completion following the business protocols.
  • Positively liaise with, and maintain, cooperative relationships with clients, government agency staff and peers.
  • Learn, use and comply with our ISO 9001 systems.

 

About You

  • We are seeking a progressive, dynamic and hard-working individual who is passionate about their chosen field and keen to learn. 
  • You are completing an agricultural, civil, or environmental science or engineering degree, or TAFE equivalent.
  • You are in the final year or final two years of your study.
  • You will have strong communication and organisational skills & excellent work ethic with a can do positive attitude.
  • You act on verbal and written instruction and drive to complete a task.
  • You are a detail person with good attention to accuracy.
  • You are a self starter, motivated to work independently and within our team.
  • You communicate open and honestly and seek solutions.

 

To be considered you will require:

  • A real passion for Australian agriculture and the environment.
  • A sound, can-do attitude.
  • An ability to gain and apply knowledge of engineering drawing techniques and CAD packages, OR,
  • An ability to produce sound written science and technical related work.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office (MS Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team environment.
  • An ability to problem solve and manage your time effectively.
  • Solid written English and grammatical skills.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritise and multi-task.
  • High attention to detail and delivery.
  • Have a Current Open or Provisional driver's license.

Enrolled in and completing your final year or final two years in one of the following areas:

  • Environmental, Agricultural, or Civil Engineering course;
  • Agricultural Science, Applied Science, OR
  • Other related course;
